What exactly is the Champions & Scholars Fund?
The Champions & Scholars Fund is the official fundraising arm for the University of Dayton athletics department.
What does my donation fund?
100% of your annual donation supports the University of Dayton athletics department. Your gift will go to work immediately to provide additional scholarships for student-athletes, increase annual operating budgets, enhance and create athletic facilities and provide the ability to retain outstanding coaches and staff. Our goal is to continue improvement in all these areas which allows us to attract talented student-athletes and coaches and makes the University of Dayton a premier athletic program.
What if I want to designate my gift for a particular sport?
Individuals who have an interest in making a gift to the Champions & Scholars Fund in support of a specific athletic program or scholarship fund can do so by indicating their desire at time of payment. There are minimum gift amounts established to make a restricted gift to a facility/capital project and also to establish a named scholarship endowment.
I already make an annual gift to the UD Fund, what is the difference?
An annual gift to Champions & Scholars Fund is specifically designated to the athletic program. Within the Champions & Scholars Fund you may designate your gift to a specific sport or other athletic fund and maintain membership at the appropriate level with an annual gift. Based on the amount and designation of your gift, you will also be included in any appropriate annual and lifetime giving societies as recognized by the University of Dayton.
I am a season ticket holder and make a donation through the Arena Seating Plan to get my tickets, what is the difference?
By making a donation to the Arena Seating Plan to secure your men’s basketball tickets, you automatically qualify for an annual membership in the Champions & Scholars Fund at the appropriate level. An additional annual gift can be made to enhance your membership benefits within Champions & Scholars Fund while also improving your lifetime giving to the athletics program.
I make a donation through the Arena Seating Plan and purchase men’s basketball tickets; will a membership in Champions & Scholars Fund improve my seating options at UD Arena?
By making a donation to the Arena Seating Plan to get your men’s basketball tickets, you automatically qualify for membership in the Champions & Scholars Fund at the appropriate level. Additional gifts and commitments to the Champions & Scholars Fund will improve your lifetime giving to athletics which is taken into consideration when seat upgrades become available.
I am NOT a season ticket holder, how does my contribution allow me to have access to men’s basketball tickets?
Season ticket holders have first right of refusal for men’s basketball tickets and at the current date there is limited availability. When tickets are available, individuals will be contacted based on lifetime giving to athletics.
Does a Varsity D and/or Flyers Club commitment qualify me for membership in Champions & Scholars Fund?
A commitment to the Flyers Club and Varsity D will not qualify you for membership in Champions & Scholars Fund.The Flyers Club and Varsity D are separate 501c3 organizations operated independently from the University that provide financial assistance to the athletic program. In order to obtain membership in Champions & Scholars Fund you must make a gift to the University of Dayton and specify an athletic fund designation.
Will I be considered for membership in other University of Dayton giving societies?
All past and future giving to the athletic program will be recognized as appropriate in the John Stuart Society (lifetime giving). Annual giving recognition will be recognized by the University as appropriate.
