The financial commitment of the many alumni, fans and friends who make up Flyer Faithful empowers the athletic program to enhance the student-athlete experience which will allow us to recruit quality individuals and compete for championships in every sport.
The Athletics Department is responsible for the educational expenses (tuition, fees, room, board, books) of more than 400 student-athletes who receive scholarships to attend UD and represent the university in intercollegiate competition. The Champions & Scholars Fund, as the principal fundraising arm of Flyer Athletics, provides a way for individuals to help these talented young people receive a quality education from The University of Dayton while ensuring UD’s tradition of excellence continues to grow.
On the court, on the field - wherever they compete - the Flyers are not outhustled or outplayed. But they also rely on others to get there. We have delivered victories and championships beyond expectations. To continue this success demands more hard work and more opportunities for our student-athletes. Our focus is to increase and broaden our efforts to attract support for operating athletic programs, the retention of great coaches, for facilities and for scholarships.
Your gift to the Champions & Scholars Fund will have a tremendous impact on our ability to enhance the student-athlete experience, but also will allow you to see the benefits of your support on a daily basis as students achieve both academically and athletically.
MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the Champions & Scholars Fund is to provide and enhance opportunities for over 400 University of Dayton student-athletes on 17 teams. The goal of the athletic department is to educate the total person by integrating an academic and athletic experience which will allow them to develop into future leaders.
Annual gifts to the Champions & Scholars Fund go to work immediately to alleviate financial shortcomings and have an impact on the entire athletics program. Without the annual financial resources generated by Champions & Scholars Fund, the athletics department will lack the ability to improve its standing on the regional and national landscape of intercollegiate athletics.
