FARMVILLE, Va. - Dayton took advantage of a two-run Longwood fielding error in the ninth inning for an 8-6 non-conference victory on Saturday. The victory even the series between UD (8-8) and LU (13-13) with Sunday's finale scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
Senior Roberto Ramos scored four times for the Flyers on a day that included a single, three walks and three stolen bases from the ninth spot in the lineup.
Junior Michael Massa scored twice and drove in a run while collecting a triple, stolen base in a 2-for-5 afternoon from the leadoff spot for UD.
The duo of Joe McSoley and Bobby Getty drove in two runs each for Dayton, which won despite being out hit 11-7.
Junior Kyle Lindsay surrendered six runs in his second start of the year. He scattered 11 hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out four batters.
Senior Craig Rohren threw two innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts to finish the day for his first win of the season. |
