BASEBALL INKS FOUR RECRUITS

Nov. 12, 2004

University of Dayton Head Coach Tony Vittorio announced Friday the signing of four recruits who will join the Flyer baseball team for the 2005-2006 academic year. The class will add high school stars Chad Bisnette (Burr Ridge, IL), Sean Finn (Marion, IL) and Ryan Gore (Fairfield, OH) along with highly touted junior college prospect Dallas Sims (Floyds Knob, IN).

Vittorio said, "We are really excited about the potential this group has to help our program. Our last two recruiting classes have been outstanding and this year all four of these players have the ability to assist us in winning championships."

Bisnette, an outfielder and catcher from Hinsdale Central High School, could be a mainstay in the heart of the order at Dayton for years to come.

"Chad can hit for average and power," Vittorio said. "He also has a strong arm. He has the potential to hit two through five in our lineup right away."

Finn, a right handed pitcher from Marion High School, has been described as a tall lanky right hander that has the skills to be another quality Flyer pitcher.

"He has command of three pitches," Vittorio said. "His future is very bright. The best is yet to come with Sean."

Gore, a left handed pitcher and utility player from Fairfield High School, should contribute for UD on the mound and in the field.

"He can throw in the mid 80s and can swing the bat," Vittorio said. "He has a chance to help us in many ways."

Sims, a right handed pitcher and utility player, comes to the Dayton from Floyd Central High School by way of Lincoln Trail Junior College.

Vittorio commented that "Dallas steps on the mound with great experience and command of three pitches. I expect him to be a conference starter for us in 2006 as well as a player who can help offensively from the left side."

Overall the recruiting class is expected to help UD find its way to the top of a competitive Atlantic 10 Conference.

"All four of these players have an outstanding chance to make an impact right away," Vittorio said. "They all fit into the UD baseball game plan - academically, athletically and socially."

The 2005 Flyers begin play on Feb. 12 with a doubleheader in Spartanburg, S.C. against Wofford.
