BASEBALL BEGINS ANOTHER HOMESTAND AGAINST LOCAL RIVAL WRIGHT STATE ON TUESDAY

UD returns home to host five straight games at Time Warner Cable Stadium beginning with a Tuesday matchup against local rival Wright State. The Raiders will make their first ever trip to Time Warner Cable Stadium to take on the Flyers beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Dayton will also play host to Tiffin on Thursday before taking part in a three-game set with UMass this weekend. All five games can be followed with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com.

The Flyers have had 18 of their 38 games this season decided by two runs or less and UD holds an 8-10 record in those games. Dayton has also won three straight games against non-conference competition including a 9-8 victory in 12 innings at Bowling Green last Tuesday.

UD has hit .284 as a team this season on the strength of six players with at .300 average or better. Dayton also boasts a roster that includes six players with 10 multi-hit games led by senior Michael Massa with 16. Jeff Mercer follows with 14 multi-hit performances while Bobby Getty has 13 multi-hit games incuding two four-hit days at the plate. Overall, the Flyers have posted 97 multi-hit performances this season. UD has also smacked 95 extra-base hits this year or 2.5 per game.

Dayton's offense has led to plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the season. The Flyers have had at least one runner reach base in 268 of the 338 innings played or 7.14 innings out of a nine-inning game. Overall, UD is averaging 5.89 runs scored per game while its pitching staff holds a 5.10 ERA. The Flyers have struck out 241 opponents while surrendering just 118 walks for a 2.04 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
