April 2, 2009

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Flyers travel to Kingston, R.I. this weekend for a three-game series against the Rhode Island Rams starting on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Bill Beck Field.

The Flyers ride into town this weekend winners of 11 of their last 13 including a pair of Atlantic 10 sweeps to start the conference slate. The Rams are 14-10-1 and 4-2 in the conference after splitting last weekend's games against Xavier.

Dayton is expected to start the weekend trio of RHP Mike Hauschild, LHP Quinn Haselhorst and RHP Chuck Ghysels this weekend.

Hauschild picked up a complete game win over the Charlotte 49ers in which he fanned six batters, giving up a solitary earned run in the contest. His play earned him recognition as Co-Rookie of the Week in the A-10 on Monday.

Haselhorst also pitched a complete game for the Flyers with three punch outs and three walks in the game.

Dayton's offensive power has been led by Jacob Spaeth who is hitting .588 over his last five games, which includes a two doubles, a triple and a grand slam to help the Flyers in a come from behind win over the 49ers on Sunday.

Catcher Scott Dunwoody is hitting .467 in his last five starts with one double.

Rhode Island expects to start RHP Tim Boyce, LHP Nick Greenwood and RHP Eric Smith this weekend against UD.

Boyce will lead things off with a 7.90 ERA and a 2-1 record. Boyce has collected an impressive 30 strikeouts to just 13 walks this season.

Freshman infielder Mike LeBel leads the URI offense with a .375 batting average. LeBel has struck out 16 times and cranked out four homers while at the plate for the Rams.
