FLYERS LOSE TO BOWLING GREEN, 3-2

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio –
University of Dayton baseball lost to Bowling Green State, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Warren E. Stadium. It snaps a two-game winning streak for the Flyers, who fall to 4-10 on the season. On its home-opening day Bowling Green improves to 4-11.

Junior outfielder Ian Hundley continued his hot streak at the plate, leading the Flyer offense with two hits for his third multi-hit performance in four games.

Freshman A.J. Ryan and senior Zach Stewart each hit solo homeruns to account for both of Dayton’s runs. Ryan hit his second homerun in three days to give Dayton an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Stewart homered in the top of the ninth inning – the Huber Heights, Ohio native has hit two homeruns in two games for the Flyers.

Bowling Green catcher TJ Losby went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. The Falcons defeated the Flyers on the home-opener at Time Warner Cable Stadium on Feb. 28 this season.

Redshirt freshman Matthew Miller (0-2) made his first start of his young career, allowing two runs in five full innings. Sophomore Robby Sunderman made his second appearance of the season on the mound to finish the game for the Flyers. BGSU’s Jason Link (1-0) earned the winning decision after shutout innings.

The Flyers return to Dayton for a 13-game home-stand beginning on Wednesday against Toledo at Athletes in Action Stadium (Xenia, Ohio).
