DAYTON 63, MIAMI 62

Nov. 28, 2007

Recap |  Box Score

Brian Gregory
"We got a lot of basketball from a lot of guys tonight. It was a great game."

"T'm not sure I've seen a guard make that many correct critical decisions when he absolutely had to as Brain did down the stretch. When to pass, when to shoot, when to push, when to set it up, which guy to pass to. He scored a lot of different ways - a runner, a floater, a rolling hook, a pull-up jumper. And that three he shot at the end...I knew it was his shot to make."

"When you are in that situation (being down early), you try to extend the game because the more possessions, the more chances a player like Brian can do something special."

"He had so much poise to be able to trust himself and his teammates and take those two's while we were coming back. We work on that everyday in practice, but some guys, when it's game time, the just look at you funny and throw up wild shots."

"Kurt (Huelsman) and London (Warren) were unsung heroes tonight. Kurt does so many things people don't see, but he's so solid you just keep waiting for him to break out. He made a lot of big plays at both ends of the floor. And if it wasn't for London, we would have been down 25 at halftime. He turned up the defensive pressure and kept up the energy. He was a leader tonight. When he is able to play extended minutes, he does a lot for us and gives us a lot of options."

"Our guys played with a great sense of urgency in the second half tonight. Not everybody would have done that in that situation."

"I went into this game with a lot of respect for Charlie Coles, and I'm leaving with even more. That's a helluva team. They play their guts out. They are only going to get better. This win is a big one as I'm sitting here, but I expect at the end of the year it is going to be even bigger."

Brian Roberts
"I've never made a bigger shot in my career. It was a very unique situation. (Bramos) made one free throw and I knew I was going to be the one who took the shot. I didn't know if it was going to be a three or not. The shot opened up and I just took it. (Afterwards) I got rushed a little. It was a feeling of excitement and a huge win."

"Being a good player, you have to thrive. Things didn't go well in the first 35 minutes, but you've got to maintain your composure and lead the team. We were forcing a lot in the first half, but the last two minutes we executed well- offensively and defensively."

"We were down 14 to them last year at home and came back to win. We talked about it at the half and that was key. We just kept our composure."

Kurt Huelsman
"One of the things we emphasized was to get it inside early. We had them overmatched down low."

"The halftime speech was important. But we went on a run before the end of the first half. That was big, because we went into the second half and kept our poise and kept it going."

"You can't compare this (Dayton) team to last year's. It's a different team, different year, and things work out differently."

"I was just praying Brian was going to make it. I watched the shot go up and it was just relief and excitement."

Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles
"You've got to give Dayton all kinds of credit. I don't want to give them credit, but I've got to. Energy was the name of the game. The guy I credit for turning the whole game around was London Warren. He turned the game around. They took Roberts out and Warren came in with all of that energy. Even though they were losing the game, they had a little hop in their step. Even though we were winning, the hop in our step wasn't there, except from Bramos, and he had two hops."
