DAYTON, Ohio - Freshman Chris Wright tallied his third double-double of the season scoring 16 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in the Flyers 68-54 defeat of the High Point Panthers at UD arena. The Flyers improved to 6-1 on the season, and 4-0 at home as the team extended its win streak to five games on Wednesday night.

Sophomores Marcus Johnson and Kurt Huelsman also scored in double figures for UD with 12 and 10 points, respectively in the Flyer win. Johnson grabbed four boards, while Huelsman took in five of his own.

The Flyer defense stepped it up holding the Panthers to just 32 percent from the field, while also shutting down the team's leading scorer, Arizona Reid, who tallied just 11 points. Reid, one of two players in the country to average at least 21 points and nine rebounds last year (Kevin Durant was the other), came in averaging 24.3 points a game.

Dayton came out of the gate strong and scored on their first seven possessions. Brian Roberts' three pointer gave UD a 17-6 lead at 15:41 on the clock. On the defensive side of the ball, UD held the High Point to just two of their first 10 shots.

The Flyers crashed the boards on every play and out rebounded the Panthers 24-11 in the first half. In fact, Dayton's 11 offensive rebounds matched High Point's total rebounds in the first half. The rebounds kept the ball from High Point and extended possessions allowing UD to maintain a strong lead.

Wright had a double-double in the first half alone, scoring 10 points and pulling in 10 rebounds, five of them coming on the offensive side. Dayton headed into the break with a 36-25 advantage.

The second frame was much of the same for the Flyers as they kept up the momentum. Dayton's biggest lead of the half came off of an Andres Sandoval three with 8:36 on the clock. The shot moved UD to a 61-42 lead, and put the game out of reach. The closest the Panthers would able to get the rest of the game was 12 points (64-52 with 2:55 left).

The Flyers out-rebounded High Point 42-30. After Wright's 13 boards, each of the other nine Flyers who scored had at least two rebounds. Jimmy Binnie and Charles Little each tallied a career-high five assists, against zero turnovers.

The Flyers return to the road this Saturday, December 8 to battle the #11/16 Louisville Cardinals. The game can be seen on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. ET.
