RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Brian Roberts scored 20 points, including 17 in the second half but the Dayton Flyers dropped their third straight game in an 80-63 defeat to the Richmond Spiders.

Senior Andres Sandoval recorded a season-high 17 points to go with career-highs of nine rebounds and two blocks. Sophomore London Warren added a career-best 11 points to go with five boards as the Flyers drop to 14-4 overall and 2-3 in the Atlantic 10.

The Spiders (10-8, 3-2 Atlantic 10), who won for the sixth time in their last eight games, shot 61.5 percent from the field in the first half. Richmond trailed 8-3 before scoring the next 13 points. The run extended to 25-5, giving the Spiders a 28-13 lead with 9:16 left in the first half and they never let up. Leading by 19 (46-37) at halftime, they scored seven of the first eight points in the second half to extend the lead to 53-28 with 17:15 to play.

UD, playing without both injured forwards Chris Wright and Charles Little for the second straight game, never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way. The Spiders clinched it by hitting 10 of 11 free throws over the final 5:25.

Richmond's first half performance was a complete reversal of the first half of last year's meeting between the two teams, when the Spiders were able to score just eight points and shoot 11.5% (3-26) from the field.

During the three-game losing skid, UD has averaged 59 points per game.

Roberts, who reached double-digits in points for the 15th time this season and in 42 of his last 47 games, shot 8-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-9 from three-point range. It was his 11th game of at least 20 points this season.

Flyer sophomore Marcus Johnson added 10 points, reaching double-figures for the seventh time in his last eight games.

Dayton returns home to face the Saint Louis Billikens on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. ET. UD will wear home throwback jerseys worn by the Flyer teams from 1979 to 1983.
