DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers defeated the Capital Crusaders, 98-73 in exhibition action led by sophomore Devin Searcy recording a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Chris Wright scored 12 and junior London Warren added 11 points in the Flyer victory.

The Crusaders, a Division III program, were led by senior Ryan Wood, who scored 16 points, including sinking 4 of 8 shots from beyond the arc. Capital also saw double digit scoring from Seniors Nate Stahl and Jamie Yoder, who added 10 points a piece.

UD head coach Brian Gregory used his entire roster, as all 14 active roster players saw time, 12 of whom scored. The Flyers as a team shot 56 percent from the floor, and were 6-of-16 from beyond the arc. Three of those three's coming from transfer Rob Lowery.

Wright's two free throws at 10:05, gave the Flyers a 31-11 lead, their largest of the half. Dayton's first half leading scorer was Warren, who scored nine in the half including 4 of 6 from the field.

Wood was able to keep Capital in the game by nailing 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc and scored 14 of Capital's 35 first half points. However, the Crusaders as a team were unable to take advantage of their possessions, managing to sink just 8-of-24 shots from the field in the half.

The Flyers focused on running the ball, and the result was 20 of their first half points coming off of the fast break. Dayton as a team shot 60 percent from the field in the first half, sinking 20 of their 33 shots.

Dayton also dominated in the low post with 34 points and 17 rebounds in the paint.

The second half was much of the same, as Dayton was able to slowly increase their lead. The Flyers continued their balanced offensive attack, with 53 of their 98 points coming from non-starters.

Capital shot just 36 percent from the field in the second half with most of their points coming from beyond the arc. The Flyer offense became too much to handle and they managed to close the came with a 25-point lead.

The Flyers' next preseason game will take place at home against the Gannon Knights on Tuesday, Nov. 11 beginning at 7pm.
