Biography:

Brian Vonderhaar is back for his fourth season as a UD walk-on. He earned his undergraduate degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship and is enrolled in graduate classes.

UD’s walk-ons are asked to do everything the rest of the team does physically, with the added responsibility of learning each Flyer opponent’s offensive and defensive sets.

Vonderhaar is known for his high basketball IQ and sharp shooting.

Vonderhaar played significant minutes in several games down the stretch of the 2012-13 season as back-up point guard Khari Price missed six games due to injury.

2012-13
Brian Vonderhaar saw action in 12 games during the 2012-13 season. He played a total of 17 minutes, had one steal, one assist and knocked the only shot he attempted.

Vonderhaar played three minutes against Fordham and tallied one assist and one steal. At Saint Louis, Vonderhaar scored three points as he connected on his only shot.

Vonderhaar was presented with the John L. Macbeth Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award for the second straight year. The Macbeth Award goes to the upperclassman on the team with the highest cumulative grade point average. A Finance and Entrepreneurship double major, Vonderhaar carries a 3.8 GPA.

2011-12
Vonderhaar saw action in seven games for the Flyers during his junior season. For the season, he dished out two assists and grabbed one rebound.

2010-11
Vonderhaar played in three games for the Flyers during the 2010-2011 season totaling seven minutes. For the season, Vonderhaar scored two points, snagged two rebounds, dished out an assist and had one steal.

High School
Brian Vonderhaar attended Archbishop Moeller High School. The 6’0” 170 pound guard is known for his high basketball IQ and his ability to shoot the basketball.

As a senior at Moeller, Vonderhaar earned first team all-league honors and honorable mention all-district by averaging 9.4 points while playing 17 minutes per game. He shot the basketball incredibly well with a three point percentage of 47.9% (46-96), a field goal percentage of 54.1% (72-133), and he shot 90% from the foul line (27-30). Moeller finished the season 20-3 and was co-league champions in the Greater Catholic League. Brian was also invited to participate in the Cincinnati East/West All-Star game his senior year.

As a senior, Vonderhaar was named as the Tri-County Press Sportsman of the Year, and received the Man of Moeller Award and the Gold Shield Award. The Man of Moeller Award was voted on by the players and coaches, and it is given to the player or manager who best exemplifies what it means to be a Man of Moeller through various achievements on and off the court. The Gold Shield Award is given to a graduating senior, who through his academic achievements, extracurricular activities and spiritual life, best exemplifies the Moeller spirit. Vonderhaar also finished fourth in his high school class, and was a member of the National Honor Society.
