Tyler Roeth placed third in the Steeplechase.
Men's Track and Field Results

ADRIAN, Mich. – The University of Dayton men’s team entered four events at the Don Kleinow Memorial Track and Field Invitational hosted by Siena Heights University Saturday.

The Flyers swept the top three spots in the 5,000-meter race.

“The story of this meet is we entered four men in the 5,000 meters, swept the top three spots, and all four runners set personal best records,” said UD Head Coach Rich Davis.

Redshirt junior Greg Roeth won the race in 14:39.94.  Junior Jeremy Schiele was second in 14:59.63, junior Stephen Mackell was third in 15:01.96 and junior Nate Addessi was fifth in 15:33.08.

Sophomore Eric Gruenbacher won the 10,000-meter race for the Flyers in a time of 32:52.70. Freshman Michael Russell was third in 33:30.00 and fellow freshman Matt Fakler was fifth in 34:26.70.

“This race was run during a rain shower and was not the best conditions,” said Davis.

Sophomore Tyler Roeth finished third in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase in 9:43.56 for Dayton.

Three Flyers also competed in the 1,500-meter race. Sophomore Doug Norris finished ninth in 4:09.48, sophomore Nick Fry was 15th in 4:17.20, and junior Derek Bornhorst was 16th in 4:18.28.

“This meet showed that the hard work of training and racing for the track season is paying off and we look forward for this success to continue into the cross country season in the fall,” said Davis.

Dayton closes out the track season with the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Miami University April 20-21 in Oxford, Ohio.
