PHILADELPHIA - The University of Dayton men's golf team was predicted to finish 10th in the Atlantic 10 Championships this spring season according to the conference's Preseason Coaches Poll released Thursday. The prediction is based on the votes of the 13 golf coaches in the conference.

Xavier, last year's first place finisher, is predicted to take the A-10 Championship title once again this spring. Newcomer Charlotte was given the second place nod while Rhode Island, George Washington and Richmond rounded out the top five.

After a rough start last spring, the Flyers came back to end the season with a sixth place finish in the Atlantic 10 Championship held at Newport National Golf Club in Middletown, RI.

This spring sees the return of two of last year's top golfers. Seniors Adam Myers and Brett Gould both showed strong performances last spring (averaging 77.41 and 77.48 respectively) as well as this fall (averaging 74.00 and 74.50 respectively). They are joined by freshman Rob Chappell who led the Flyers in three of the five tournaments he participated in during the fall season. Chappell ended the fall season with an average of 74.33.

This year's Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship will move to the Orange County National Golf Course in Winter Garden, Florida. The UD men's golf team will head to Florida May 5-7 to compete with the other 12 A-10 teams for the Championship title.

The Flyer men's golf team kicks off their spring season on March 6 at the Grover Page Classic in Pickwick Dam, Tenn.
