FAIRBORN, Ohio - After round one of the Norm Bullock Collegiate Classic, the Dayton Flyers are knocking on the door for a first place finish.
UD as a team shot a 296 thanks to a career-best 73 from junior Mark Juve. The Flyers finished day one in third place just two strokes back of Youngstown State for the top team spot in the tournament.
Junior Rob Chappell, who finished in second the last time he participated at the Norm Bullock Collegiate Classic, shot a 74 along with freshman Chris Woeste.
Freshman Ian Gilley also enjoyed a strong showing scoring a 75, just one stroke off his season-best.
Among the individuals, the duo of freshman Zach Glassman and Matthew Friend enjoyed the best rounds each firing a 71.
Freshman Jeff Hodapp tallied a 75 as while juniors Mitch Custenborder and Nick Trubee each fired a season-best 77.
UD looks for its first tournament championship under head coach Drew Tyrer's tenure when play continues with rounds two and three on Monday, April 7.
The second round will begin at 9 a.m. ET from the Greene Country Club.
