BUSE'S EVEN PAR 72 PACES FLYERS AFTER ROUND ONE OF THE A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

Matt Buse had five birdies in his first round at the 2012 A-10 Championship.
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Behind an even-par 72 from junior Matt Buse, the Dayton Flyers are in sixth after the first round of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship.

Buse, who played in the conference tournament as a freshman but missed it as a sophomore, had five birdies in his first 18 holes of play. The 72 was also Buse’s best career round in the A-10 Championship.

As a team the Flyers shot a 293 in round one and are only five over par for the tournament.

Brenten Blakeman shook off a slow start to shoot a one-over 73 in round one. He bogeyed his first two holes, but then had three birdies in the next seven holes of play to recover. The 73 was also his best round in an A-10 Championship.

Sean Keating and George Rohde III each recorded a two-over par 74. Keating had five birdies as well, but picked up two double bogeys in his first round. Rohde’s highlight came when he had an eagle on the 16th hole.

Michael Oberschmidt rounded out the scoring with a four-over 76.

Round two will take place at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. Live scoring will be available via DaytonFlyers.com and Golfstat.com.
