ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton men’s soccer team (5-12, 4-3 A-10) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Saint Louis Billikens (6-8-1, 4-3 A-10) in a 3-1 loss at Hermann Field on Friday night.

After an early red card, the Flyers played the majority of the game down a man. Dayton’s lone goal came from junior Auston Smyth after the card. Smyth scored his second goal of the season off of a corner kick. Junior Evan McCreary and sophomore Abe Keller each had an assist on the goal.

“The difference today was going a man down for a long time,” Dayton Head Coach Denis Currier said. “We did a good job getting back into the game in the first half, but we couldn’t sustain that through the second half. We have to refocus against Charlotte and try to get points this weekend to stay in the mix.”

Sophomore goalkeeper Alec Storm made seven saves. Dayton was outshot 19 to 5 as the man disadvantage took the steam out of the Flyers’ attack.

SLU’s Jon Roeckle tallied the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute. Robbie Kristo added an insurance goal in the 81st to give Saint Louis the 3-1 win.
