LAST TIME OUT
The Flyers shot a season-low 26 percent from the floor in a 74-49 loss to No. 10 Xavier Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Cintas Center. Dayton, ranked second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring offense with 71.2 ppg, posted its lowest scoring tally of the season against the Musketeers. Eleven different UD players found the scoring column, but Kristin Daugherty was the only one to reach double figures; she scored nine of her team-high 13 points in the first half for Dayton. XU won the battle of the boards, 56-30. This is just the fourth time this season Dayton has been outrebounded and only the second time this season the Flyers have been outrebounded by double digits.
The 49ers are 13-8 overall and are second in the Atlantic 10 standings with a 6-1 mark in Conference play. After starting the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 7-7 mark and then losing their A-10 opener in double overtime to Duquesne, the 49ers have rattled off six straight wins. Charlotte has a 3-5 record when playing on the road this season. Junior Shannon McCallum leads the 49ers with 12.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 42 steals and 19 blocks. She is also third on the team in assists with 49. Senior Aysha Jones adds 10.0 ppg and senior Ashley Spriggs tacks on 9.9 ppg. Charlotte is the defending champion of the A-10 Tournament title.
The Flyers are 1-4 all-time against the Charlotte 49ers and have split the last two meetings. Last season, UD fell 60-57 on the road to Charlotte on Jan. 24, 2009 at Dale F. Halton Arena. Four different Flyers scored in double figures, led by 14 points from Kendel Ross. Kayla Moses added 12 points and three assists, while Kristin Daugherty and Patrice Lalor both contributed 10 points.
