MEN'S XC EXCELS AT CEDARVILLE COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

The Dayton Flyers men’s cross country extended its competitive track season this past Saturday at the Cedarville Collegiate Open. In very breezy conditions, five Flyers put together personal best times at the event. UD also set one team record, to go along with two meet and stadium records.

As a team, the Flyers finished sixth overall amongst a field of 15 while competing in just three events.

Junior Chris Lemon lowered his 10K personal best en route to a new team record time of 29:59.28. Scorching the former team record by 28 seconds, Chris also set meet and stadium records with his first-place effort.

Following Chris closely was brother, Matt, who placed second overall and lowered his 10K personal best by 76-seconds to 30:02 in the process.

In the 5,000-meter event, Greg Roeth clocked in at 14:51 to lower his own personal record as well as establishing meet and stadium records at Cedarville. He finished first overall, sealing his win with a 28-second final 200-meters.

Jeremy Schiele was right by Roeth in the 5K and wound up recording a personal best time of 15:24.11 to claim fourth-place. Kyle Lowry also scored points for the team with his fifth-place finish of 15:24.63.

Stephen Mackell, who finished 12th overall, posted a 15:56 5K and was just .28 seconds from matching his personal best time set last week at Cincinnati's Early Bird Relays.

Competing alone in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Nate Addessi set a personal record by 15 seconds and placed second overall to score for Dayton. His time of 9:40.62 was also a personal best in the event.

After yet another successful spring trial, the Flyers will rest up and prepare to race again on April 10 at the Miami University Invitational in Oxford, Oh. Stay tuned to DaytonFlyers.com for complete results and a recap of all the action as the Flyers continue their spring slate.
