A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT UP FOR UD ROWING

The Flyers have finished in 4th place the previous two seasons at the A-10 Championship.
The Dayton Flyers look to build on another strong outing and improve upon last season's fourth place finish as UD heads to the 2010 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship.

Last season the Flyers finished in fourth for the second consecutive year, but recorded a program-best 102 points.

At last year's event, UD's Second Novice 8 won their race and tallied 10 points as the Flyers defeated Rhode Island and Massachusetts with a time of 7:43.8. Meanwhile, the Novice 8 picked up 18 points after tallying a second place finish with a time of 7:06.0.

UD will race in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Lightweight 4, Varsity 4, Novice 8, Second Novice 8 and a 4X.

Dayton has prepared for this championship by competing in three events during the spring season.

The 15th annual Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship will take place on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., on Saturday, Apr. 17.

The A-10 Championship will be a tough challenge for the Flyers. Defending champion Massachusetts captured its league-record 13th A-10 Women's Rowing Championship last season, beating out runner-up Rhode Island by a 24-point margin.

The championship begins at 8 a.m. ET with trials. Finals will begin at approximately 11:20 a.m. ET.

Competing in this year's Atlantic 10 Championship are Dayton, Duquesne, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's, and Temple.

The highest the Flyers have ever finished in the conference championship was in second at the 2005 event.
