DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton women’s soccer players Katherine Boone and Colleen Williams have been selected as “sophomore stars for 2010” by TopDrawerSoccer.com, which compiled a list of the Atlantic 10’s top six sophomore prospects for the upcoming year.

Boone, a goalkeeper from Kirkland, Wash., posted 71 saves and a conference record 0.41 goals against average (which was second best in the nation) in her rookie season for the Flyers, who registered a school-record 13 shutouts. She allowed just nine goals in 22 games and was named the Atlantic 10’s Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to earning first team accolades.

Williams, a playmaking midfielder from Titusville, N.J., started all 23 games for the Flyers. She dished out nine assists and put away seven goals, piling up 23 points, which was third-best on the team. Williams led all freshmen in scoring and assists, and garnered A-10 Rookie of the Year honors.

The Flyers lose just three starters from the 2009 team which posted an impressive 16-1-6 record including an undefeated mark in Atlantic 10 play (10-0-1). Dayton went on to win the A-10 regular season and tournament titles and also earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the second round.
