NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University Of Dayton Division Of Athletics was not only successful in sports this spring but also successful in the classroom. UD placed 104 student-athletes on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Spring semester.
Honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better, the Atlantic 10 announced the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Spring 2010 semester today.
“I congratulate the student-athletes who have been named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll,” stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “This demonstrates their strong commitment to achieve in the classroom and on the field. Each is a great representative of their institution and the Atlantic 10 Conference."
Dayton was fourth among the 14 Atlantic 10 Conference institutions in number of student-athletes recognized. The Flyers were just seven away from La Salle’s A-10 leading 111 student-athletes acknowledged.
The UD women’s track and field team, which tied for first in the A-10 Indoor Championship and placed second in the A-10 outdoor meet, had the most Dayton representatives on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll with 22 this semester.
Duquesne was second with 106 student-athletes named to the list, followed by Fordham with 105.
There were a total of 1,180 student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the Spring of 2010.
