Directions to MeetMel Brodt Invitational Men’s 8K Race Map

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men’s cross country team will be back in action this Saturday, Sept. 11 when the Flyers compete in the Mel Brodt Invitational hosted by Bowling Green State University at the BGSU Forrest Creason Golf Course.  The men’s 8K race starts at 11:30 a.m. ET.

UD won the Mel Brodt 8K event last season as five runners finished 16th or better. Chris Lemon was runner-up in a time of 24:08. Dayton’s top five runners averaged a time of 24:47.4.
“We are going up to Bowling Green to defend our title. We won it last year and this year we’re going to run with patience early and then we are running to improve our position in the middle and end of the race,” said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. “We are looking for not just great individual performances this weekend, but also a solid team performance, all the way from first through seventh.”

Dayton is coming off a runner-up finish at the Flyer 5K on Sept. 4. Senior Chris Lemon won the event in a course record time of 14:45 and five UD runners crossed the line in the Top 15: senior Matt Lemon (2nd), redshirt sophomore Greg Roeth (8th), sophomore Jeremy Schiele (13th) and sophomore Kyle Lowry (14th).

After each race throughout the season Coach Davis hands out two team recognition awards – Tough as Nails, and Team Glue. The Tough as Nails Award goes to the runner who displayed the best physical and mental toughness during the race. The Team Glue Award goes to the runner who, through the course of week, leading up to race, makes sacrifices and gives encouragement and moral support.
