DAYTON, Ohio –
The University of Dayton volleyball program landed two student-athletes on the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District IV volleyball teams released on Thursday. Senior Becky Novacek was named to the Second Team and junior Yvonne Marten was named to the Third Team.

On the court the Aliquippa, Pa., native is a three-year starter for the 17th-ranked Flyers and leads the A-10 in blocks per set during conference play. Novacek was named to the Notre Dame Invitational All-Tournament Team in September spurred by a season-high 14 kill performance against Santa Clara, adding five blocks. Novacek, a 2009 A-10 First Team All-Conference honoree, has recorded a hitting percentage over .350 in nine matches this season, including a .583 mark and a career-high 10 blocks at Temple on Oct. 8.

Marten has a 3.80 GPA with a pre-medicine emphasis. The Fortville, Ind., native is a redshirt junior for the Flyers and returned from injury in 2010 to start for UD for first time since 2007. Marten ranks eighth in the A-10 in blocks per set (0.86) and averages 1.57 kills per set as the Flyers’ right side hitter. Marten recorded a season-high 11 kills at Saint Louis on Sept. 24 and has a season-high six blocks in two matches – No. 22 Northern Iowa on Sept. 3 and Xavier on Oct. 15.

District IV is comprised of all colleges and universities in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
