NEW YORK – The University of Dayton men’s soccer team was eliminated from Atlantic 10 Tournament contention on Friday, falling to the Fordham Rams 1-0. Dayton is now 7-7-3 and 3-3-2 in the A-10.

“It was disappointing. I thought the guys battled hard tonight. We faced a lot of adversity on the trip,” Dayton Head Coach Dennis Currier said. “I thought they did everything they could in terms of effort. However, a lack of production from our forwards has hurt us, and once again we were unable to convert.”

The Flyers outshot Fordham 13-11 in the contest, including seven on frame. However, Fordham gained the upper hand with just over three minutes remaining in the first half when Brett Heyder connected with Michael Valencia for the lone goal of the game.

Redshirt goalkeeper Tyler Picard made two saves in the game for UD.

“We fought to the end. We did everything we could to keep in the playoff hunt but fell short of our goal,” Currier said.

The Flyers will close out the regular season on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET against La Salle.
