FLYERS SWEEP CHARLOTTE FOR 17TH STRAIGHT WIN

University of Dayton volleyball defeated Charlotte in straight sets on Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated in conference play and win its 17th consecutive match (25-21, 25-17, 25-12).

After clinching at least a share of the 2010 Atlantic 10 regular season title on Friday, the Flyers now have sole possession of its eighth regular season title in program history at 13-0 in league play.

Sophomore Rachel Krabacher and senior Lindsay Fletemier each had 12 kills to lead UD to 43 kills on a .343 hitting percentage on Sunday. Krabacher recorded an individual hitting percentage of .385 – the fifth time of the season the Cincinnati native has recorded a hitting percentage over .300. Fletemier recorded a .534 attack rate to bring up her season average up to .400.

Dayton (22-3, 13-0 A-10) out-blocked Charlotte 9.0-to-.3.0 after both teams recorded 10 blocks in the first meeting of the season on Oct. 23, which UD won in three sets. The Flyers recorded a hitting percentage over .300 in each set.

Dayton’s 17-match winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest in the nation with No. 4 Hawai’i and No. 1 Florida.

Charlotte’s (14-14, 5-8) Bianca Rouse recorded a match-high 14 kills as the 49ers vie for the sixth stop in the A-10 Championships with two regular season matches remaining – currently in seventh place in the standings.

Dayton returns to action next week in a trip to New York to face Fordham on Friday at 7 p.m. ET, followed by Senior Day at the Frericks Center on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET, against Saint Louis.
