CHRIS LEMON TO RACE THE NATION'S BEST AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS MONDAY

NCAA Championship Page | NCAA Live Webcast

University of Dayton senior Chris Lemon will run at the 2010 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship this Monday, Nov. 2. It’s his second trip in three years. He becomes the first Flyer men’s cross country runner to earn two trips in his collegiate career.

Indiana State University will host the Championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The men’s race will begin at approximately 12:48 p.m., following the women’s race.

“Chris is one of only 38 individual qualifiers to nationals. This is a return trip for him as he also competed at this level in 2008,” said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. “The fact that he is in the top 38 in nation is a testament to him as a runner and the hard work that he has put in the year-round Dayton Flyer men’s distance running program.”

During the 2008 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship, Lemon finished 102nd out of 252 runners, clocking in at a then-school record 30:55.

He recently broke that 10K record with a time of 30:31 on Nov. 13 at the 2010 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Men's Cross Championship, which earned him All-Region status and an automatic berth to this year’s NCAA Championship.

“Chris is looking to better his time from the 2008 race,” said Davis. “He’s already broke that record this year and he is determined to improve upon that.”

A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, Nov. 22, on NCAA.com.  In addition, highlights from the championships will be included as part of the CBS NCAA Fall Seasonal Show scheduled to air on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Eastern time on CBS HD.
