NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton track and field student-athlete Mallory Barnes was named the Atlantic 10’s inaugural Performer of the Week for the 2010-11 season on Monday.
Barnes took first and second place in the events she competed in at the Oiler Opener in Findlay, Ohio on Dec. 4 and 5. In her first-place finish in the weight throw, Barnes threw 66-02.5. The Cincinnati native placed second in the shot put with a distance of 46-10.75.
The Flyers had outstanding representation on the podium at the Oiler Opener. UD placed in the top three in four events last weekend.
UD will return to competition after the holiday break at the BGSU Team Challenge on Jan. 15 in Bowling Green, Ohio.
