MEN’S GOLF HEADS OUT TO THE EARL YESTINGSMEIER INVITATIONAL

This will be the fourth tournament of the 2011 spring season for the Flyers.
Facing a strong field of teams for the second straight time, the Dayton Flyers men's golf team looks for another strong finish as UD competes  at the 2011 Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational.

Hosted by Ball State University, Dayton will compete against a field that includes Austin Peay, Ball State A and B squds, Bowling Green State, Butler, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Marshall, Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, Ohio, Valparaiso and Wright State.

This will be the fourth tournament of the 2011 spring season for the Flyers.

The Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational will consist of 54 holes with 36 holes being played Saturday and the final 18 holes scheduled for Sunday. There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. ET each day. Scoring will be six players, count the low five scores each round.

The event will be held at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind. Founded in 1910 as the area's first private golf course, Delaware has developed over the past century into one of the premier facilities in the State of Indiana, becoming the first to receive USGA certifications in 2003.

During the 2011 spring campaign, the Flyers, and more specifically senior Chris Woeste, have been on a roll.

Earlier this week, was named Atlantic 10 Men’s Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive time. This comes after the Centerville, Ohio native captured the individual championship at the 2011 University of Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational by two strokes in UD's last tournament.

Woeste leads the team in several categories including stroke average (75.3), total rounds (18), and best rounds (67).

Another strong performer this year is sophomore Brenten Blakeman. In all but one round this season, Blakeman has shot in the 70s. He also second on the team in strokes per round at 75.4.

At last year's Earl Yestingsmeier Invite, Blakeman led UD with a third-round 73 to help the Flyers finish in 11th.
