CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three members of the University of Dayton softball team collected conference honors on Tuesday, when the Atlantic 10 announced its All-Conference and All-Rookie Honors the eve of the Atlantic 10 Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
University of Dayton junior Lauren Nacke has been named a First Team All-Conference selection. The A-10 also announced that sophomore Kathleen Maloof was named Second Team All-Conference and freshman Alysha Isaacson was picked to the All-Rookie Team.
This is the second time that Nacke has been picked as a First Team All-Conference Selection. In 2009, she was named to the A-10’s First Team and All-Rookie Team. This season, Nacke has set records in career RBI (103), single-season RBI (47) and single-season home runs (17). In addition, she continues to pile on to the career-home run record she broke in 2010. Nacke has 34 home runs in three seasons and has hit the same amount of home runs this season (17) as she did in her freshman and sophomore years combined.
Nacke is in the top 10 in several categories including home runs (1st), runs batted in (1st), hits (T-5th), runs (T-8th), total bases (3rd), on-base percentage (2nd) and slugging percentage (1st). Her batting average is tied for second in the A-10 (.406). Nacke is ranked ninth nationally in home runs and 16th in slugging percentage (0.84) as of the last NCAA report on May 1. On Saturday, Nacke was named Dayton’s Team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
Maloof earns her first appearance on the A-10’s Second Team after being an honorable mention in 2010 and a member of the All-Rookie Team. Maloof leads Dayton in doubles and ranks second on the team in hits (50), batting average (.347), on-base percentage (.401), slugging percentage (.597), runs scored (31) and home runs (9). She has had 18 multi-hit games, and 10 multi-RBI games, including five games with three or more RBI. Maloof also has nine outfield assists from her right field position. She is the Dayton single season doubles record holder (19).
Isaacson became the sixth Flyer to be picked to the All-Rookie Team. Dayton has had a player named to the team in each year of the All-Rookie Team’s existence. Isaacson leads UD in numerous pitching categories including innings pitched (147.2), wins (12), strikeouts (72) and saves (3). She tossed a one-hit shutout earlier this season against Saint Louis. Additionally, her three saves ties Dayton’s single-season record.
Offensively, she ranks third on the team in batting average (.302). In addition, she had the walk-off hit that secured a win against George Washington. Isaacson had four multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games, and has been named the A-10’s Rookie of the Week on three occasions. She was also tabbed as the team’s Rookie of the Year.
Dayton begins play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Wednesday when the Flyers face the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at 3:30 p.m. at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex in Charlotte, N.C. UD advanced to the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the first time since 2000 when the Flyers beat Charlotte, 5-4 on April 30.
