BARNES COMPETES IN THE NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS ON FRIDAY

DES MOINES, Iowa
– University of Dayton senior thrower Mallory Barnes will compete in the hammer throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Drake University at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Barnes qualified for the NCAA Championships after a record-breaking throw at the NCAA East Preliminaries on May 26. Barnes’ mark came on her first throw of the event, with a distance of 196-03.

Friday marks the second time that Barnes has qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the hammer throw. Last year she placed 19th with a throw of 180-00. Barnes is a two-time All-American in the weight throw during the indoor season, placing sixth in her junior and senior years.
