KRABACHER AND CAMPBELL PAIR UP FOR WEEKLY HONORS

Junior Rachel Krabacher earned her second A-10 Offensive Player of the Week nod on Monday.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second time in three weeks Dayton’s Rachel Krabacher and Megan Campbell were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday.

Krabacher, a junior outside hitter, led the Flyers’ offense in key conference wins against Duquesne (3-0) and Saint Louis (3-1) last weekend, while helping Dayton extend its winning streak against league opponents to 29 matches. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native totaled 37 kills and averaged 5.29 kills per set on a .329 hitting percentage. She started the weekend with 18 kills in four sets against the Billikens on Friday, before notching the second-most kills in a three-set match among all A-10 players with 19 (.462 hitting percentage) against the Dukes on Saturday. Krabacher also recorded 16 digs, four assists, two aces and a block on the weekend. She currently leads the Atlantic 10 in points per set (5.00) and kills per set (4.48).

The award marks the second for Krabacher this season, as the junior outside hitter was also named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19.

Campbell, a sophomore middle blocker, paced Dayton defensively last weekend, as the Flyers swept Duquesne (3-0) and secured a 3-1 victory over Saint Louis. The Versailles, Ohio, native posted 15 blocks in the two matches, averaging 2.14 per set, and helped UD limit opponents to a .131 hitting percentage. On Friday against the Billikens she posted nine block-assists en route to the four-set win and added six blocks (one solo) against the Dukes on Saturday. Campbell currently leads the A-10 in total blocks (85.0) and blocks per set (1.47).

It is Campbell’s third weekly award this season, as she was named Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 and Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 19.

Xavier setter Aubree Smith was named the conference’s Rookie of the Week for the fourth time.

The Flyers will make their first road trip of the Atlantic 10 Conference season with trips to George Washington and Charlotte this weekend. Dayton faces George Washington at 7 p.m. ET on Friday in D.C., followed by a Sunday match at Charlotte beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
