Dayton Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men’s soccer team closes out its five-game home stand this weekend hosting the George Washington Colonials and Richmond Spiders at Baujan Field.

Dayton is 1-11 and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10 after falling to La Salle and Fordham last weekend. Sophomore Victor Duru leads the team with five points (2 goals, 1 assist). David Abidor and Jack Pearson each have a pair of assists.

Sophomore keeper Alec Storm returned to the lineup against Fordham after being sidelined with an ailment for the previous two contests. Storm has a 2.11 goals against average and has made 41 saves this season.

The Flyers will open the weekend with GW at 7 p.m. on Friday. George Washington enters the game with a 4-4-2 record and a 2-0 record in conference play. The Colonials are undefeated at home, but winless in road games.

GW is led by Yoni Berhanu and Seth Rudolph. Berhanu leads the team and the Atlantic 10 with 14 points (6 g, 6 a) and Rudolph is second on the team and Atlantic 10 with 12 (5 g, 2 a). Berhanu’s six goals also lead the conference. Mattia Melillo was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 10 after scoring two goals and two assists.

Dayton closes out its home stand against Richmond at 1 p.m. on Sunday, who is 2-8-1 and 1-1 in the A-10 entering the weekend. Nine different players have scored goals for Richmond on the season.

They are led by Timmy Albright and Spencer Schiff who both tie for the team-lead with 10 points. Albright has four goals and two assists. Schiff has three goals and four assists. Sean Baker was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday after tallying his first two career goals over the weekend. Goalkeeper Thomas Hand has played 801 minutes this fall and has a 3.15 goals against average.

Admission is free to all University of Dayton regular season soccer matches. Friday is free popcorn night at Baujan Field and Sunday is the Future Flyers Kids Club match. Each FFKC member in their official club shirts will receive Donato's pizza compliments of UD Athletics.
