DAYTON, Ohio –  Sophomore Juliana Libertin notched a hat trick and an assist in the University of Dayton’s 7-1 win over Temple Sunday at Baujan Field in Atlantic 10 women’s soccer action.

The seven goals equals a season-high by the Flyers who improve to 14-3 overall and 5-2 in A-10 play. The Owls drop to 4-12 overall and 1-6 in conference games.

UD’s leading scorer Colleen Williams got the first goal of the match in the 4th minute, bending her cross into the far post net. It marked her 10th goal of the season. The junior also dished out two assists in the match to bring her season total to 10. She has 101 career points, moving her into third all-time at UD. She needs six to tie Missy Gregg (1999-2000) in second and 12 to become the all-time leader.

Libertin was the star of today’s match, hauling in a career-best seven points. She scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 19th minute on her bending corner kick. She also got UD’s next goal in the 26th minute on assists from Williams and Alysha Mallon. The Flyers held a 3-0 lead at the half.
Freshman Kelsey Smigel scored one of her two goals early in the second period to put UD up 4-0 in the 48th minute, after a deflection from Libertin and sophomore Steph Emery.

The Owls got on the board in the 51st minute with a score by Niki Conn.

Libertin scored her third goal in the 65th minute after Alexis Garcia chipped her ball in the box. It marked Libertin’s eighth goal of the year.

Smigel tallied her second goal of the match and eighth of the season in the 76th minute with a through ball from Williams.

Sophomore Andrea Todak scored her first goal of the season after a rebound off the keeper from an Emery shot.

Sophomore Jordin Melchert earned the win in goal and improved to 4-0-0 on the season.

Dayton outshot Temple 34-5 and had an 8-0 advantage on corner kicks.

The Flyers host Saint Louis next Friday, Oct. 28 at Baujan Field at 7:30 p.m. ET. Prior to the match Dayton will honor its six seniors.
