The University of Dayton women’s basketball team has two freshmen on the squad this year: Andrea Hoover (Bellbrook, Ohio/Spring Valley Academy) and Ally Malott (Middletown, Ohio/Madison High School). Get to know the rookies in this video in which they interviewed each other about their favorites.

Both played key minutes in Dayton’s 88-34 exhibition win over Northern Kentucky on Nov. 1. Malott had a team-high four steals and 23 minutes, and also added four points and six rebounds. Hoover played 22 minutes and had four points, three rebounds and an assist.

“I think they are both great kids and very important players in our program,” said UD Head Coach Jim Jabir. “I’m very happy with their improvement.

“I believe the fact that they came here is very important to our program,” Jabir added. “Having them in practice is a great confirmation of what we thought they could bring when we recruited them. They are excellent and they are going to help us win a lot of games.”

The freshmen and the rest of the Flyers will be back in action this Friday, Nov. 11 when they take on Bowling Green in their season opener at 7 p.m. ET at UD Arena.
