KENT, Ohio – A number of University of Dayton student-athletes set new personal records at the Doug Raymond Invitational, while sophomore Hilary Lang took first in the long jump with a school record-breaking jump.
Sophomore Lizzie Gleason finished first in the mile run (5:05.53). Freshman Ellie Grandi topped Tiffin’s Megan Gill in a jump off in the pole vault. After tying at a mark of 5-03.00, Grandi reached 5-04.25 (1.63m) to edge Gill.
“We had a good first meet back. It is a good starting point for us to build on each week leading up to the A-10 meet,” University of Dayton head track and field coach Jason Francis said. “We had a few standout performances and many solid performances throughout the meet. The athletes will be able to learn and move in a positive direction from their experience today.”
Lang’s new personal record ranks atop the UD track and field record books. Lang had a distance of 5.51m (18-01.00 feet) on Saturday. Lang also set a new personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of (9.84).
Sophomore Maddi Schmidt finished second in school history and set a new personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.08 in the preliminaries. She pr’ed in the long jump with a distance of 5.24m (17-02.25 feet). Sophomore Aly Weeman had a new personal record in the weight throw (16.23m – 53-03.00 feet). Sophomore Katrina Steinhauser and Hanna Krizmanic each pr’ed in the pole vault with heights of 3.70m (12-01.50 feet) and 3.55m (11-07.75m) respectively. Steinhauser captured first in the pole vault with her mark.
Senior Elissa Mason finished third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:02.60. Sophomore Sarah Reynolds was fifth at 10:31.77. The distance medley relay team (Gleason, Clark, Johnston, Cargill) finished second with a time of 12:32.83.
60 Meter Dash
Sophomore Cassie Grandstaff finished sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.94 (7.93 prelim). Sophomore Noelle Tazioli had a preliminary time of 8.31 and freshman Rebecca Maj had a prelim time of 8.52. Julie Kolodziej had a preliminary time of 8.46.
200 Meter Dash
Grandstaff finished 11th in the 200 meters with a time of 25.80. Freshman Maya Pedersen clocked in at 26.20, while freshman Ashley DeMange and Tazioli had times of 26.27 and 26.68 respectively. Kelsey McDonald had a time of 27.06, while Kolodziej finished in 27.76.
400 Meter Dash
Senior Rachel Weber was 12th checking in at 58.37. Pedersen had a time of 59.61 and McDonald finished in 1:01.25. Sophomore Jocelyn Abron (1:02.82) and sophomore Mariah Curtis (1:03.02) also competed in the 400 meter dash.
800 Meter Run
Sophomore Nicole Cargill had a time of 2:22.05, which placed her eighth in the 800 meter run. Senior Kelly Johnston finished 11th (2:23.79). Lang (2:33.80), senior Erin Baldinger (2:35.50) and Schmidt (3:03.44) rounded out the 800 meter group for Dayton.
1000 Meter Run
Sophomore Kassy Thomas finished 13th crossing the line in 3:11.79. Freshman Lauren Clark had a time of 3:12.22, finishing 14th. Freshman Chelsey VanHook finished with a time of 3:14.25. Freshman Salena Clohisy clocked in at 3:18.68.
One Mile Run
Gleason captured first in the one mile run with a time of 5:05.53. Freshman Megan Collins finished in 5:28.94. Freshman Mary List had a time of 5:33.58. Freshman Nicole Armstrong crossed the line in 5:46.76.
3000 Meter Run
Mason finished third with a time of 10:02.60. Reynolds was fifth at 10:31.77. Junior Marisa Slomski checked in at 10:52.65.
60 Meter Hurdles
Schmidt finished second in school history and set a new personal record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.08 in the preliminaries. Maj also qualified for the finals in the hurdles with a time of 9.33. Baldinger had a prelim time of 9.83 and Lang had a time of 9.84. Freshman Katy Garcia’s preliminary time was 10.97. Schmidt finished fourth in the finals at 9.16. Maj ran her final time in 9.94.
4x400 Meter
Dayton’s top 4x400 relay team (Pedersen, McDonald, Grandstaff and Weber) finished fifth (4:00.90). UD’s second relay team (Curtis, Thomas VanHook and Tazioli) had a time of 4:10.40. The third team finished in 4:24.89 (Abron, Lawniczak, Mason and Armostrong).
Distance Medley Relay
The distance medley relay team (Gleason, Clark, Johnston, Cargill) finished second with a time of 12:32.83.
High Jump
Freshman Ellie Grandi topped Tiffin’s Megan Gill in a jump off in the pole vault. After tying at a mark of 5-03.00, Grandi reached 5-04.25 (1.63m) to edge Gill. Lawniczack had a height of 1.50m (4-11.00).
Pole Vault
Steinhauser placed first with a mark of 3.70m (12-01.50) in the pole vault. Krizmanic was fifth at 3.55m (11-07.75). Sarah Gaskell was 11th after clearing 3.25m (10-08.00). Ashley DeMange reached 3.10m (10-02.00).
Long Jump
Lang captured a new school record in the long jump with a distance of 5.51m (18-01.00). Schmidt tied for fourth with a jump of 5.24m (17-02.25). Baldinger had a length of 5.02m (16-05.75). Abron reached 4.78m (15-08.25) and Garcia jumped 4.76m (15-07.50).
Shot Put
Junior Christine Borchers was 10th in the shot put. Borchers had a throw of 12.66m (41-06.50). Freshman Lundyn Thompson threw 11.41m (37-05.25). Samm Hortsman reached 10.91m (35-09.50) and freshman Miranda Nelson had a distance of 10.66m (34-11.75).
Weight Throw
Sophomore Aly Weeman set a new personal record with her throw of 16.23m (53-03.00). Nelson had a distance of 15.04m (49-04.25). Junior Renee Otte threw 14.46m (47-05.25), while Thompson had 14.29m (46-10.75). Borchers had a distance of 13.97m (45-10.00) and Hortsman finished with a distance of 13.96m (45-09.75)
