DAYTON, Ohio – With just two weeks remaining until the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Kingston, R.I., the University of Dayton women’s track and field team heads to the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. this weekend. Additionally, four multi-event athletes: Erin Baldinger, Katy Garcia, Hilary Lang and Maddi Schmidt will compete in the pentathlon at the Akron Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
A pair of Flyers are coming off of excellent weekends. Freshman Ellie Grandi tied her top mark of the year with a jump of 5-05.75 at the Indiana Relays last weekend. Grandi’s jump is tied with Saint Louis’ Naya Owusu and Saint Joseph’s high jumper Hannah Boyce as the top Atlantic 10 high jump of the year.
Sophomore Aly Weeman extended her weight throw distance with a mark of 56-02.00 at the Tom Wright Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio last weekend. She leads Temple’s Alanna Owens by nearly four feet in the weight throw.
The pentathlon at the Akron Invitational will begin on Friday at 5:15 p.m. in the Stiles Field House in Akron, Ohio. The Meyo Invitational begins on Friday at 5:00 p.m. with the women’s long jump. The 500 meter run at 9 p.m. will conclude Friday’s events in South Bend. The Meyo will resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women’s 3000 meter run and will end with the women’s 4x400 at 4:40 p.m. The Meyo Invitational will be held at the Loftus Center on the Notre Dame Campus.

TOP THREE VAULTERS
The Atlantic 10’s top three marks in the pole vault belong to University of Dayton track and field student-athletes. Senior Courtney Siebenaller has the highest mark (12-03.50 – Oiler Opener). Sophomore Katrina Steinhauser (12-01.50 – Doug Raymond) is second and sophomore Hanna Krizmanic is third (12-00.50 – Gladstein Invitational).
TIED FOR FIRST
Freshman Ellie Grandi is tied with Saint Louis’ Naya Owusu and Saint’ Joseph’s high jumper Hannah Boyce for the top mark in the conference for the high jump this season. Grandi has a mark of 5-05.75, which she has reached twice, most recently at the Indiana Relays last weekend.
HALF OF THE TOP EIGHT
UD’s weight throwers hold four of the top eight marks in the weight throw this season. Sophomore Aly Weeman leads the A-10 by nearly four feet with a top mark of 56-02.00 (17.12m) set at the Tom Wright Classic. Samm Hortsmann (50-10.75 – Oiler Opener) ranks sixth, Christine Borchers (49-11.00 – Oiler Opener) is seventh and Miranda Nelson is eighth (49-04.25 – Doug Raymond).
PENTATHLON
Hilary Lang ranks third in the A-10 in the pentathlon with a score of 3,152. Erin Baldinger ranks sixth with 3,007 points and Maddi Schmidt ranks seventh with a score of 3,002. Rhode Island’s Marissa Norman (3,210) is first and Keiko Hector is second (3,170).
