SAN ANTONIO –
The University of Dayton bounced back from its 3-2 overtime loss to the Texas Longhorns Friday with a resounding 5-1 victory over University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) Sunday.

“It took a while to get over that Texas game,” said UD Head Coach Mike Tucker. “We were still thinking about it Saturday, but we got it back together. They were pumped to get out here and redeem themselves.

“We put a ton of pressure on them (UTSA) and didn’t let them get any connecting passes. We scored three in the half but our finishing was poor,” added Tucker. “We let down a bit in the second half but still had some great chances. We could have scored eight or nine goals. We’re starting to get a lot of varied attack going.”

Junior Juliana Libertin led the Flyers (1-1) with two goals and two assists in the win over the Roadrunners (0-2). She tallied 11 shots, including six shots on goal.

Senior Colleen Williams, sophomore Kelsey Smigel and freshman Ashley Campbell also each scored a goal for UD.

Senior Alysha Mallon dished two assists, while Williams, junior Steph Emery, freshman Katie Krejsa were each credited with assists.

The Flyers went up 4-0 in the 54th minute on another Libertin goal, her third of the season and 15th of her career.

Smigel scored about three minutes later to get her first goal of the season and give the Flyers a 5-0 lead.
