DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton track and field team has been honored as one of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division I All-Academic Teams.

Dayton's squad has the 23rd best cumulative team grade point average as 117 Division I women's track and field programs were recognized by the USTFCCCA.

The Flyers posted a team GPA of 3.362 and was one of three schools from the Atlantic 10 to make the list. La Salle University and University of Richmond were also honored.

"Our student-athletes do an outstanding job of balancing academics and athletics," said head coach Adam Steinwachs. "Given the academic standards UD students are held to it's an honor for our program to be in such an elite group."

To be nominated and selected to the All-Academic Team, the team must carry a minimum 3.000 team cumulative grade-point average.

Dayton is coming off a successful season as the squad finished a program-best second place in both the Atlantic 10 Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

UD lost only two seniors to graduation and will return a solid group next year including All-Conference performers Johnna Zaccari, Sarah Allen, Amy Kremer, and Pembroke Strickland.
