Nicole Bateman also posted a double-double for her effort on 17 kills and 22 digs. The Flyers committed 31 attack errors against South Carolina while the Gamecocks committed 21 attack errors.

"We need to serve more aggressively than we did and probably make better choices than we did," said head coach Kelly Sheffield.

Lindsay Fletemier recorded 12.0 points for UD in the match. Fletemier had 10 kills on 21 attempts for a .381 attack percentage against the Gamecocks.

Dayton fell behind early in the match after a few costly errors at the end of the first set, despite putting away the Gamecocks handedly in the second set, the Flyers could not overcome the South Carolina momentum.

"I was proud of how we worked at the end of the match in the last 10 or 15 points," said Sheffield, "If we would have played that hard and with that much energy, then the bottom line could have been different."

The Flyers will face tournament host Arizona State to close out the Sheraton Classic tomorrow at 4:00 pm ET. For complete coverage including news, results and live statistics visit www.DaytonFlyers.com
