SEVEN POSTSEASON TEAMS INCLUDING NATIONAL RUNNER-UP LOUISVILLE HIGHLIGHTS UD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

2009-10 Non-Conference Schedule

DAYTON, Ohio - Home contests against NCAA National Runner-up Louisville and Sweet 16 participant Michigan State; along with a visit to Purdue (Elite 8) are only a few of many highlights of the University of Dayton women's basketball 2009-2010 non-conference schedule that features seven postseason teams.

UD head coach Jim Jabir has always stated that competing against the Atlantic 10 Conference is tough, but this season, his team will have more of a challenge than ever in competing against top-caliber programs in its non-conference schedule as Dayton takes on five teams that made it into the NCAA Tournament last year.

"This by far is our most demanding schedule," said Coach Jabir. "It speaks to the growth we've had in the program and hopefully we can step up and face the challenges we've set for ourselves."

"Fans of basketball and the local community can see some of the best women's basketball in the country right at UD Arena this year," Jabir added.

The Flyers will be tested early on hosting Michigan State on Nov. 13 and Louisville on Nov. 15.

The challenge continues as UD opens up a five-game road swing at the Basketball Travelers Tournament hosted by Purdue University. The Flyers will face WNIT quarterfinalist Georgetown first (Nov. 20), followed by the Boilermakers (Nov. 21) who made an appearance in the Elite 8 last year. The tourney will conclude with a match-up against Seattle on Nov. 22.

A visit to the Windy City pits UD against Chicago State and University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) on Nov. 28 and Nov. 30, respectively.

Dayton returns home to face UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 4 before beginning a state-wide slate featuring three schools from Ohio. UD will play local rival Wright State (Dec. 6) at home before traveling to Toledo (Dec. 9) and Miami (Dec.12).

After Butler visits UD Arena on Dec. 21, the Flyers will go on a eight-day holiday break before returning to action at the Dartmouth Tournament (Dec. 29-30). The women's basketball team will take on two conference champions and NCAA First Round teams in Vermont (Dec. 29) and Dartmouth (Dec. 30). It's the first time the Flyers have ever played either team.

Non-conference competition concludes on Jan. 5 when Dayton plays host to Navy.

The team will open up the 2009-10 season with an exhibition match-up against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday, Nov. 6. A complete schedule along with game times for all contests will be announced at a later date.

The Flyers return their five starters and top seven scorers from a team that went 21-14 last season. The 2008-09 squad advanced to the Atlantic 10 Semifinals for the third time in the program's history and made its second-straight appearance in the postseason WNIT.
