DAYTON FLIES PAST CHICAGO STATE 82-51

CHICAGO - Three Flyers scored in double figures and 11 different players made the scoring column as the University of Dayton women's basketball team flew to its fourth consecutive victory with an 82-51 win over Chicago State Sunday at the Jones Convocation Center.

"I was very proud of the kids for sticking with the game plan. This game could have been a lot closer than it was," said UD Head Coach Jim Jabir.

UD sophomore Justine Raterman paced all scorers with 16 points. Senior Kendel Ross tacked on 13 points and six rebounds. Redshirt sophomore Elle Queen had 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Her 12 points also tied a career high.

The Flyers dominated the boards, 48-33, and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 24 points on 22 CSU (2-3) miscues.

"It was a great team effort," said Jabir. "This win was another step towards our goal. We also continue to improve and we hope to improve with every game."

The Flyers led 39-30 at the half as Raterman poured in 11 points and UD scored 11 points on free throws. Dayton started the game with an 11-0 run and did not allow a CSU field goal until the 16:04 mark. The Cougars then went on an 11-0 run of their own to tie it with 13:13 on the clock.

Freshman Samantha MacKay made back-to-back layups to give the Flyers their largest lead of the game, 82-51 with 32 seconds on the clock. MacKay finished with seven points. Fellow freshman Kari Daugherty and redshirt freshman Brittany Wilson each scored eight points. Wilson also had a game-and career-high eight rebounds.

The Dayton defense did not allow a Cougar field goal for nearly 10 minutes to start the second period, which started with a UD 23-2 run. Jael Pena scored CSU's first field goal of the second half with 10:12 left to play. But, only after UD had built a 62-32 lead on an Elle Queen jumper at 11:11.

UD is 5-1 on the season and have won their last four games. The Flyers conclude their five-game road swing when they go up against UIC, Monday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. ET in Chicago.
