Prior to UD
With only one scholarship available, University of Dayton women's basketball coach Jim Jabir and his staff landed one of the top local basketball products in several years when Fairmont High School star Cassie Sant signed her letter of intent to attend UD and play basketball for the Flyers.

Sant, Fairmont's much sought-after 6-foot-2 center, is a three-year starter and averaged a team-high 14 points and nine rebounds as a junior last season, leading the Firebirds to a 22-4 record. Just as impressive, she also has a 3.7 grade point average.

On the national recruiting rankings, Sant is rated the ninth-best power forward in the nation and the 82nd best prospect overall by the ESPNU HoopsGirlz 100. In her junior season, Sant was an Honorable Mention All-Ohio selection. She is a two-time First Team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference selection.

"I think we're incredibly fortunate to have such a nationally-renowned recruit join our UD family," said head coach Jim Jabir. "It's great that she's local and that we are able to give top local players the option to stay home. Her signing shows a lot about where our program is going. Cassie is a great person with great character, she comes from a great family and is a great student. She's a Dayton kind of kid and we're fortunate to have her. Cassie comes from a great basketball program at Fairmont. Coach Tim Cogan has done a great job developing her and all his players."

A native of nearby Kettering, Sant was wooed by many national women's basketball powers, including Iowa, Purdue, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Michigan State and Bowling Green.

High School
Cassie was able to compile arguably the most impressive career in Fairmont history. She owns the school record in points (1,226), rebounds (708), and most career assists (228). She also holds a record for most assists in a game with ten. She help lead her team to two league championships and two district championships her junior and senior year. In her senior season (2009-2010) she was able to average 13.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. This all attributed to her leading the Firebirds to their first ever state championship appearance in school history.

Personal
She is the daughter of Eric and Roxanne Gray. She has a younger brother, Vincent, and younger sister, Zoe. She is majoring in Visual Communication Design.
