Biography:

2007-08
University of Dayton freshman Ebony Gainey will not play for the women's basketball team due to a congenital medical condition that was discovered just before the start of the season. Although her career was over literally before it started, Gainey will remain as a member of the women's basketball team.

"We are disappointed for Ebony because she was looking forward to helping us win this season," Flyer Head Coach Jim Jabir said. "We still feel fortunate to have her as a part of our family because signing her was a major step towards building a championship program."

High School
A two-time All-Ohio selection...Named to AP Division I Special Mention honors as a senior...Averaged 11.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 6.1 steals and 4.5 blocks per game to lead Meadowdale to a 17-5 record as a senior...Tallied five triple-doubles and was just shy of two quadruple-doubles that year...Garnered AP Honorable Mention All-Ohio honors as a junior after averaging 15.4 points per game...Named the SWPOL Player of the Year as a sophomore after nearly averaging a triple-double with 10.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game...Ranked among the Top 70 players nationally in the Class of 2007 according to the Blue Star Report.

Personal
Gainey is the daughter of Kenneth and Juanita Gainey...She has two older sisters, Kenyattia and Alissia...She was a National Honor Society member and the salutatorian of her graduating class at Meadowdale High School...she is a general studies major at Dayton.
