THREE FLYERS EARN ALL-OHIO HONORS

April 16, 2007

DAYTON, Ohio -  Three University of Dayton women's soccer players were named to the 2006 All-Ohio Division I teams by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association on Monday. Freshman midfielder Mandi Bauml and junior defender Kristen Persichini were named to the first team and freshman midfielder Colleen Gibson was named to the second team.

Bauml from North Olmsted, Ohio, led the Flyers in almost all statistical categories including goals (seven), points (16), shots (55), and tied for the lead in game-winners (2). The midfielder ended the season number nine on the all-time top freshman point totals list for the Flyers. She was selected to the Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Region first team, selected to the Ohio State Invitation and Pepperdine Puma Classic All-Tournament Teams. The freshman was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, All Rookie Team, and All Tournament team during the '06 season.

Persichini, a junior from Hudson, Ohio, started and played every minute of all 18 of the Flyers' games this year. She anchored a defense that gave up only 23 goals in 17 games and recorded five shut-outs on the year. She scored three goals on only 13 shots with eight of those being on goal. Persichini was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, was selected to the Ohio State Invitational All-Tournament team, and was selected to the Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Region first team for the 2006 season.

Gibson, a freshman from Moreno Valley, California, started and played all 18 games in her first year. Gibson tallied two goals to go with two assists on the year for the Flyers. Her 35 shots were the second most on the team and she scored the game-winning goal in A-10 conference play over Rhode Island in the fall.

Dayton is set to wrap-up the spring season on Wednesday, April 18 at home. The Flyers will take on the Ohio University Bobcats at Baujan field with the opening kick-off scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
