VILLANOVA, Pa. - The University of Dayton softball squad splits its Atlantic 10 doubleheader against Saint Joseph's at Villanova University Sunday. The Hawks claimed game one, 4-0, and UD scored two runs in the seventh to rally for the 7-5 win in the nightcap.

Freshman Lauren Nacke had a solid series for the Flyers, going 4-for-6 at the plate. She had two of Dayton's three hits in the opener. Fellow freshman Courtney Kutsulis notched the Flyers' other hit, a double to right centerfield in the sixth. The Hawks had just five hits to UD's three, but one was a two-run homer by Brooke Darreff in the fifth.

The second game looked like more of the same as SJU jumped to a 5-0 lead. Something sparked with the Dayton offense in the third inning and the Flyers tied the game up, 5-5. Junior Megan Lee started the rally with a single down the right field line. Sophomore Alicia Nichols was hit by a pitch and junior Molly Meyer was walked to load the bases. Senior Katie Jordan put the ball in play to score one run and Nacke singled to score two more. Junior Anne Maci was credited with the final two RBI of the inning, scoring Megan Barrett and Nacke.

The only other scoring of the game came in the seventh and it was all Flyers. Meyer reached on a fielder's choice, Jordan singled and Nacke was walked to load the bases. Brandy Brown had an RBI single that scored Meyer, and Maci tallied her third RBI of the game with a single to right field to score Jordan.

Nichols went 2-for-2 in game two, while Nacke was 2-for-3 and Brown went 2-for-4. Sophomore Allie Falk was solid on the mound for the Flyers, pitching three scoreless innings and earning the win to improve to 4-2 on the season.

Dayton plays its final regular season games this Saturday, May 2 at noon against Charlotte in an A-10 doubleheader at UD Softball Stadium.
