Dayton Flyers

The University of Dayton women’s tennis team kicks off their spring season with a four game road trip this weekend. The Flyers have match ups against Butler, Michigan State, Valparaiso and Western Michigan.

 

Flyers head Coach Ryan Meyer answered a few questions about his goals and expectations for the 2013 season as well as his time here at UD.

 

1. What are your goals and expectations to help grow the tennis program while here at UD?

“My expectations are that we will work harder than any other team in our conference with the mindset and goal to win both on the court and more importantly in the classroom.”

2. Why did you choose to come to UD?

“I chose to come to UD for a few reasons. It’s a D1 program in a solid conference. It’s a chance to run both men’s and women’s programs and the University have both a great athletic and academic reputation.

3. What do you think of your players and their talent and skill level?

“I think our players on both teams are very skilled and hard working. We are working on making some adjustments with our tactics, but improving a great deal in a short amount of time.”

4. Do you have any goals or milestones you are trying to reach with the teams this season?

“For the women’s team our goal this season is to beat Xavier, have a team GPA of at least a 3.2, finish in the top six of our conference and end the season with a winning record. For the men’s team our goal this season is to beat Xavier, have a team GPA of at least a 3.2, finish in the top four of our conference and end the season with a winning record.”

5. Final Thoughts or Comments?

“I am glad to be here at UD and I look forward to taking this program to the next level!

 

The women are back in home action at the Five Seasons on January 25th as they play host to Robert Morris at 5:00 p.m.
