FOUR FLYERS TABBED TO ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton track and field standouts Erin Baldinger, Lizzie Gleason, Hilary Lang and Elissa Mason were tabbed to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference team. Dayton’s four Academic All-Conference selections lead the Atlantic 10.

“Having twice as many academic all-conference athletes than any other women’s program in the A-10 is a great accomplishment,” University of Dayton track and field head coach Jason Francis said. “It demonstrates that the Flyers are not only great athletes, but are also tremendous achievers in the classroom. Heather Hogan (track and field academic coordinator) and our academic support staff do an amazing job and they are a real asset for our student-athletes.”
Baldinger, a dietetics major, finished fifth in the pentathlon with 3134 points at the 2012 indoor championships. She ranks fourth all-time in the pentathlon at UD and ranks seventh among A-10 counterparts.

Gleason finished fourth in the mile run, fourth in 4x800 and seventh in the DMR at the 2012 Indoor Championships. A Pre-Med major, Gleason has the fifth-best mile time finishing in 4:58.00. Her mile time also ranks 10th in the A-10. Gleason is a member of the Dean’s List and was named to the 2011 A-10 Cross Country Academic All-Conference team.

Lang, an exercise physiology major finished second in the pentathlon. She holds records in both the pentathlon and long jump at UD and ranks second in the pentathlon in the Atlantic 10. She is also a member of the Dean’s List.

Mason finished second in the 5K and seventh in the 3K at the A-10 Championship.  She also ranks second in the A-10 in the 5K and is fourth all-time at UD in the mile run and 3K. Mason is a 2011 A-10 Cross Country Academic All-Conference selection and a member of the Dean’s List. Mason is a pre-physical therapy major.

Dayton had four selected to the academic all-conference team in 2011. The Flyers return to action on Saturday at the Early Bird Relays at the University of Cincinnati.
