DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton volleyball Head Coach Kelly Sheffield has announced the addition of high school senior Janna Krafka to the 2012 roster on Tuesday.

Krafka, a 5-foot-5 libero, was twice named OHSAA Division I All-State for nearby Centerville High School and played with Kingdom Volleyball Club for coach Yoon Ha. She guided Centerville to back-to-back seasons as district runners-up and the Greater Western Ohio Conference title in 2011.

“I’m really fired up for Janna to be a Flyer,” Sheffield said. “She is a baller, she is a scrapper, she is tough, and really brings a lot of talent to our program. I love the fact that she is a vocal player – that really gets me excited. She has impressed me with her love of the University of Dayton, her desire to be a great volleyball player and how much she wants to play for our program – those are exactly the type of players we want.”

Krafka joins a talented group of three defensive specialists on Dayton’s roster for next season with senior Paige Vargas, junior Allyson Morey and sophomore Rachel Jones.

“We weren’t looking for another defensive player – we have got a lot of depth in that position – but she came to our camp and absolutely put on a show,” Sheffield contended. “She was the talk of camp, not only in competition with other campers but also amongst our own players. She basically demanded a spot on the team from me by the way she played.”

The daughter of Eric and Sandy Krafka will wear number 18 for the Flyers.
