The University of Dayton has announced that women's track and field head coach D'Andre Hill has accepted the assistant coaching position at Texas Christian University. Hill has guided the UD program since 2001. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
"DeeDee has been a tremendous asset to our program over the past three years," said UD Vice President and Director of Athletics Ted Kissell. "We wish her all the best."
Under Hill's direction, the Flyers' have experienced unprecedented success in the track and field program. In 2004, Hill coached senior Khaleelah Sneed (Chicago, IL) and sophomore Kelly Pohlman (Versailles, OH) to the NCAA Championships while freshman Candace McKinley (Helotes, TX) qualified for the Junior Nationals.
Sneed became the first student-athlete in the history of the Atlantic 10 to be named both the Indoor and Outdoor Performer of the Year in the year while McKinley became the first Flyer to capture Rookie of the Year honors during the Outdoor season.
"This has been a tremendous experience for me at UD," Hill said. "I am looking forward to the opportunity at TCU, but would like to thank everyone at Dayton for their help and support."
A 1996 Olympian, Hill graduated from LSU in 1998 with a degree in General Studies. With the Tigers, she was part of the three Outdoor National Championship teams and in all three years - 1994, 1995 and 1996 - she ran on the gold medal-winning 4x100-meter relay. Her running career reached its pinnacle in 1996 when she was the NCAA champion in the 55-meter (indoor) and 100-meter (outdoor) sprint and runner-up in the 200-meter (indoor and outdoor). Following that performance, Hill named the NCAA Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
Originally from Cincinnati, Hill is a 1991 graduate of Mt. Healthy High School.
